Give It Up

If we desire to live a life that is truly dedicated to the Lord we must learn to give up everything we have in order to follow Christ.

Giving up everything means giving up your passions, giving up your hopes and dreams, giving up the things you hold dear. Turning away from self and focusing on Christ. Changing your ways of thinking from what do I want to what does God want. To live a life with Christ as the and focused on Him means we shouldn’t put anything before Him but make Him the priority in our life.

I know what it’s like to have things in your life that are important to you but if you are a believer who has accepted Christ into your life..that life is now belongs to Him and as a Child of God we are to use that life to Glorify Christ; that means that nothing should come before Him. Stop putting things before God and start living for Him. He doesn’t just deserve five minutes of your day but rather He deserve every moment of our lives.

Luke 18:18-22 says this “And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is , God. Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother. And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up. Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me."

Examine your own life.. is every action, thought and emotion one that glorifies God? Are you truly dedicated to His purpose for your life? Have you given it all up and followed Him? Maybe it’s time to look at your own priorities and figure out what you love the most. God should be the priority in your life. When we learn to put Him first and seek after Him, everything else will follow and everything else will fit into place. God gave you free will not so that you can live for yourself but so that you can learn to love Him and have a desire to serve Him!
